Overall, CSRs at a travel vaccine clinic play a crucial role in facilitating travelers’ access to essential vaccinations and ensuring that they receive the information and support needed to stay healthy during their international journeys.

Away Clinic in Chandler, Arizona is seeking to hire a customer service representative to work remotely from home. Our customer service representatives (CSR) play a pivotal role in ensuring that travelers receive the necessary vaccinations and information for their international journeys.

CSR responsibilities include:

  • Appointment Scheduling: The primary goal of the CSR is to get travelers who reach out to us through phone, email, or other means on the schedule so that a nurse can evaluate their medical history, vaccine history and travel plans to give them a tailored set of vaccine recommendations, as well as administer the vaccines all in the same visit.
  • Providing Information: The CSR addresses customers’ questions related to vaccine pricing, scheduling, what to expect in the vaccine appointment, and other questions that may come up. To the extent possible, the CSR should leave questions regarding what vaccines the patient may need for their appointment with the nurse. This is essential because (a) the CSR is not a qualified medical provider, and (b) the CSR doesn’t typically know their medical history, full travel itinerary, or vaccine history.
  • Appointment Facilitation: The CSR helps facilitate vaccine and malaria prescription appointments. They offer ongoing support to travelers throughout the vaccination process, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise. CSRs strive to provide excellent customer service and ensure that travelers have a positive experience at the clinic. They also provide support to health care providers as needed.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: CSRs maintain accurate records of travelers’ vaccination histories, appointment schedules, and other relevant information. CSRs must ensure that patient privacy is maintained.
  • Payment Processing: They handle payment processing for vaccination services, including collecting payments, processing insurance claims, and issuing receipts. CSRs ensure that travelers understand the costs associated with their vaccinations.
  • Administrative Tasks: In addition to their customer-facing responsibilities, CSRs may perform various administrative tasks to support clinic operations. This could include maintaining inventory of vaccines and supplies, scheduling follow-up appointments, and coordinating with external partners or vendors.

Job requirements include:

  • Customer Service. The CSR must be friendly, helpful, and patient with our customers and potential customers.
  • Salesmanship. The CSR must be able to convince people who call in to schedule and pay for an appointment with a travel health nurse.
  • Strong Communication Skills. CSRs must have the ability to communicate effectively in English in both writing and on the phone.
  • Strong Computer Skills. CSRs must be able to navigate various software packages including the following: Basic word processors, spreadsheets, patient medical records software, etc.
